The Writers' Festival by Ben and Brodie

On Tuesday the 31st of July year 4 went to Byron Bay Writers Festival.  Year 4 got on the bus and the grade 4 teachers to go to Murwillimbah for the Writers Festival.

When year 4 and the grade 4 teachers got off the bus we went into Murwillimbah Civic Center.  We all sat down with our classes with other schools.

We saw Isobelle Carmody and Andy Griffiths they told lots of funny stories and books for sale it was very cool!  At the start when we came in we got a raffle ticket. At the end of the show they announced the winner of the raffle ticket. It was announced and the person was Lacie!

When it was over we went out of the Murwillimbah Civic Center and sat with our friends to have morning tea.  We played around but sooner then later we were told to sit back down and talk. After morning Tea we hopped on the bus to go back to school. We chatted to our friends on the bus. When we got off the bus everyone lined up in their classes and went into our class.

Primary Athletics Carnival by Isobel and Emma

It was Friday the 27th of July. Most of Lindisfarne primary school were climbing onto the buses in various colours and costumes to go to Kingscliff Little Athletics sporting arena.

When we got there, the buses were unloaded and we walked over to our house areas. We were amazed at how many people and volunteers there were.

The first event was 100 metres which is a big sprint. Everyone was lined up and feeling very nervous. The gun went off and we bolted for the finish line. Next was High Jump. 8, 9, 10 years girls and boys lined up to attempt the starting height. Only a few made the jump but the overall winner was Kaiya.

Next was the 200 metres sprint. Lots of children moved to the marshaling area. We had to wait for a long time before it was our turn to run because there were so many people. Then we had Discus although I was confident that I could make it I was about a centimetre off the qualifying mark and it was upsetting that I didn’t make it through. (Emma’s discus story.)

After that, we had the 800 metres, which was twice round the field. It was the last track race. There were competitive races, but also lots of spirit racers. (A spirit race is when you skip, dance, scream, shuffle etc.)

The two last events were Long Jump and Shot Putt. For long jump dozens and dozens of girls lined up to have a try at the hard starting length. Several girls made it through but most of us under-jumped the length. Shot Putt had much less competitors then long jump. The length was hard and only some made it to Coffs Harbour. Then we had a fun tug-of-war before getting on the bus to go back to school. I can’t wait till next year!

The Ned Show by Patrick and Jade

On Thursday 26 of July was the Ned show. Chad from the Ned Show came to visit Lindisfarne and told us all about how making wrong decisions makes you have a bad day, while telling us a story about Ned making a wrong decision and how it affected his whole day.

Chad showed us some funny  & some interesting tricks that he can do with a yo-yo. He asked a couple of people a question about making right decisions and every time someone told him their name he would saythat’s my mothers name”. After he asked a couple of people he got back on stage and chose a person to get a prize and it was…

FLYNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Flynn got a free yo-yo and a yo-yo holder, he also got a balloon hat.

Chad told us all about the meaning of what Ned stands for.
